If someone had told me a few years ago that I’d be here today—thriving, feeling better than ever, and on fewer medications—I wouldn’t have believed them. Because back then, I was juggling 10 different prescription medications. Each one was prescribed to manage a symptom, but no one ever stopped to ask the bigger question:

Let me back up and explain how I got here.
Life as a Pharmacist—and a Patient
As a traditionally trained pharmacist, I’ve spent decades helping patients navigate their prescriptions. But when it came to my own health, I found myself frustrated. In my 40s, I started experiencing symptoms I couldn’t explain: exhaustion, mood swings, weight gain, and feeling like I was just off.
Every doctor visit led to another prescription, and while each one helped in its own way, I never felt truly better.
Before I knew it, I was on 10 medications and still struggling. I couldn’t help but wonder,

Losing My Parents
—and Gaining a New Perspective
Then COVID hit.
Losing both of my parents to the virus shook me to my core. It forced me to take a step back—not just from my career but from how I was approaching my own health.
I took time off to grieve and reflect, and in that quiet space, I decided to take control of my health. I wanted to feel better—not just mask my symptoms but truly heal.

Discovering Functional Medicine
This led me to functional medicine, a field that focuses on finding and addressing the root causes of health issues. I went back to school, completed a Functional Medicine fellowship, and learned how to support the body in healing itself naturally. And here’s what I discovered: It’s not about choosing between medications and natural solutions. It’s about using both together to help your body thrive.
By making small but meaningful lifestyle changes—like eating better, managing stress, balancing my hormones, and addressing nutrient deficiencies—I saw incredible results.
I went from being on 10 prescriptions to just the essentials (including my hormones), and for the first time in years, I felt better than ever.

Back to the Pharmacy—with a New Perspective
Now, I’m back in the traditional pharmacy world, but with a whole new mindset. I still believe in the power of prescription medications—they save lives and improve quality of life every day. But I’ve also learned how important it is to support those medications with natural approaches.
